Edwin is an experienced life sciences professional with over 25 years of experience in laboratory environments. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from VU Amsterdam and started his career as an analytical chemist, later progressing into project management and senior leadership roles within international organizations.

Over the course of more than two decades at the CRO Pharma Bio-Research / PRA International (later PRA Health Sciences, now ICON), Edwin held various positions, ranging from Project Manager to (Senior) Director Operations. During this period, he was a member of the Management Team and led both small- and large-molecule bioanalytical and QC laboratory operations. He was closely involved in team leadership, scaling organizations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and new facility build activities. He was also closely involved in international projects, including the set-up of a laboratory in the United States, and supported regulatory inspections by, among others, the FDA and IGJ (GxP).

His broad experience also includes roles at the Netherlands Inspection Service for Horticulture and Ardena Bioanalysis, where he was responsible for project and operational management, scientific oversight, and the further professionalization of laboratory organizations. At Ardena, he was also a member of the Management Team. During his first period as a Senior Consultant at Progress, Edwin carried out assignments for various companies as a project and change manager, alongside providing consultancy services to QC and research laboratories.

Edwin is known for combining strong scientific expertise with pragmatic leadership and a hands-on approach. He moves seamlessly between strategy and execution and has a proven track record of driving sustainable improvements in complex environments, with a strong focus on people management and team development.

Personal

Outside of work, Edwin enjoys an active and well-balanced lifestyle. He lives in Assen with his partner and their three children. His interests include outdoor activities, travel, sports (mainly running and cycling), music, cooking and going out for theater, concerts and fine dining.
