Maaike joined Progress in April 2026. She holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. After a brief period as a Product Specialist in Sales at Abbott, she began her career at Sanquin Blood Supply Foundation in the QA Department. There, she held various quality roles across different divisions of the organization.
Following her time at Sanquin, she moved to MSD in Haarlem, where she focused on validation and vendor management. In 2015, she joined Janssen Biologics in Leiden as a GMP Specialist, focusing on internal audits, external inspections, and inspection readiness. In January 2019, she returned to Sanquin to join the QA team at Sanquin Diagnostics. In this role, she was responsible for the development, optimization, and management of quality systems for the diagnostic and research laboratories.
Two years later, she transitioned to the Sanquin Blood Bank, where she was responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulations related to the blood transfusion chain, including GMP, GDP, GCP, and ISPE Good Practice Guidelines (GPG), in order to safeguard the quality and safety of all blood products.
Maaike is a Quality Specialist with more than 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and the blood product supply chain. She is known for her sharp and critical eye, collaborative communication style, and pragmatic approach.
Personal
Maaike is married and has a son. She enjoys traveling with her family and spending her free time with friends and loved ones. Her hobbies include dining out, skiing, and spending time outdoors in the mountains and in nature.
